There is very little that I would be able to tell you about Elsa Lanchester. I do not know much about her career as an actress except that it was long and varied, I do not know much about her personal life other than that she was married to Charles Laughton, and that he was legendarily VERY gay.
But I do know that I see this picture (and others like it) and I don't think "Bride of Frankenstein" I think Elsa Lanchester. To my way of thinking, that reaction makes this image Iconic...probably even more iconic than the performance itself.
